Emma is an Osteopathic Manual Therapist with over 10 years of education studying the human body, and has a background in numerous sports. She has a Masters Diploma in Osteopathic Manipulative Sciences (M.OMSc) from the Canadian Academy of Osteopathy in Hamilton, Ontario.
Prior to pursuing Osteopathic education, she earned her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology (BSc Kin) with Honours from the University of New Brunswick, where she also played Varsity Soccer and was captain of the UNB Women's team for three years. Following graduation, she attended the University of Waterloo where she completed her Masters of Science in Kinesiology (MSc Kin) with a thesis comparing regional cerebral blood flow differences.
Emma has a special interest in mental health having written her final paper on how Osteopathy can positively impact clients struggling with Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) and brings this knowledge and awareness to every client. She is a member in good standing with both OSTCAN and the NSAO.
Career
Currently, Emma practices principle based Osteopathic Manual Therapy and takes a structural treatment approach. Treatment is gentle and holistic, and addresses the whole body. She understands the importance of having a connection with her clients and prides herself in making sure they feel heard and understood. The goal of every treatment is to facilitate positive changes within her clients structure while appealing to their nervous system. She aims to find the root cause of what is causing negative symptoms and pain within her patients, and can address multiple areas of concern in a single session. She values providing patient education to empower her clients to achieve their treatment goals both on and off the treatment table.
To better help her patients, Emma has taken several continued education courses within the last year including:
- Assessing Pregnancy (from Best for Baby University)
- Cransiosacral Therapy 1 (from Upledger Institute)
- Cransiosacral Therapy 2 (from Upledger Institute)
