What makes ZENITH different from a standard Physiotherapy Clinic?

At ZENITH all of your treatment time will be spent directly with your physiotherapist. We respect your time, and use every moment to provide hands on manual physiotherapy treatment, teach and progress exercises, answer questions, and educate you on how best to manage and prevent pain and injury.

Can we treat multiple injuries and areas during one treatment session?

Yes, at ZENITH we look at the body as a whole. It is our goal to improve your movement and function from head to toe. Other treatments may not have been successful if your therapists did not look at the whole body. For example, if you complain of shoulder pain, has your therapist assessed and treated your spine and pelvis? A stiff spine is unable to absorb and transmit forces evenly, which will place stress on neighbouring joints, such as your shoulder in this example.

How do I make an appointment?

You can get in touch by phone (902-529-1331), email (info@zenithphysiopilates.com), or use the form under the contact page. Alternatively use the quick and easy online booking page, which is the method we prefer.

What makes Physio Pilates different from a regular Pilates class?

Physio Pilates classes are taught by Physiotherapists, university trained health care professionals. Our experienced therapists have further training in the pilates method, and have developed their own way of incorporating therapeutic exercise with the pilates method, to create an exercise based approach to health, wellness and performance. All class participants are given home exercises as part of their initial individual session, to specifically address their areas of injury or weakness.

I’ve tried doing core exercises before and always ended up hurting myself!

At ZENITH we take the time to properly educate you on how to use your core muscles. People with a history of pain and injury often present with weakness in the deep core muscles. These can be difficult to isolate and strengthen without individual feedback and a gradual, safe progression of core exercises. We take the time to teach, monitor performance of exercise, and provide comprehensive home programs that are specific to your daily activities or sport.

Do I have to be referred by a doctor?

No, physiotherapists can assess and treat without referral by a doctor. However some private health insurers require a doctors referral or notice, so please check with your insurance company as all plans are different.

Please wear something you are comfortable in and that allows you to move (stretchy is good), such as shorts or yoga pants, and a sports bra or tank top. You may be asked to remove an item of clothing, so we do have gowns if needed.

Pelvic Floor aka Pelvic Health Physiotherapists have specialized post graduate training which includes, using internal and external “hands-on” or manual techniques to evaluate the function of the pelvic floor muscles.  We will assess your ability to contract and relax these muscles and their synergy with the other core muscles. We will also assess the joints and muscles of your lower back, hips and sacroiliac (SI) joints since problems here can stress your pelvic floor muscles.

Of course – if you wish, you can have someone present throughout your consultation and treatment. Children under sixteen years of age can have a parent/guardian present.

Physiotherapy, Osteopathy, Naturopathy, Acupuncture, and Massage Therapy services are not covered by MSI.  Most private insurance plans will reimburse a percentage of the fees or a set amount.

  1. Direct billing for all services is now available to many insurance companies but claim results vary greatly and are under the control of the insurance company. Full payment for any amount not covered or for unsuccessful submissions is due at the end of each session (cash, cheque, debit or e-transfer are accepted).

  2. You are responsible for understanding your policy coverage. We do not know the details of any individual's plan, nor can we change the outcome of an electronic claim submission. Please check with your provider to determine the amount and terms of your coverage. Some insurance plans will require a doctor's referral.

  3. At this time, we cannot direct bill any osteopathy claims with Sunlife. Sunlife does not allow osteopaths to be registered on their health care provider portal.
  4. Group sessions (Physio Pilates) are billed as Group Physiotherapy, and may be covered by your insurance plan. Please note, we cannot direct bill for classes. At the end of your 10-week session you will receive a detailed receipt with your attendance that can be submitted to your insurance company.

We regret that we do not deal with MVC/MVA claims. We are happy to treat these patients but payment must be made at the time of the appointment as we do not submit claims to a third party insurer.

Your appointment time is reserved just for you. A late cancellation or missed visit leaves a hole in the therapists' day that could have been filled by another patient. As such, we require at least 24 hours' notice for any cancellations or changes to your appointment. Patients who provide less than 24 hours' notice, or miss their appointment, will be charged a cancellation fee of 50% of the appointment cost for the first instance and full appointment price for subsequent ones. You can cancel or reschedule online up to 24 hours before your appointment. Within 24 hours please call the clinic directly (902-529-1331). Please note that within 24 hours before an appointment, email is NOT an accepted method of cancelling appointments.
